What is a family?

What is a family?
  • A Family isn’t always blood. A family includes people who want are there by you, no matter what.
  • A family is like the branches of a tree. It may grow in different directions, yet the roots remain the same.
  • No family is perfect. They argue, they fight. They even stop talking to each other at times, but no matter what, they end up coming back to each other.
  • A family is a link to the past and the bridge to the future.

After reading all the points of description of a family, that one family that comes to our mind is that of Yashvardhan “Yash” Raichand. What about you?

Rahul and Anjali's hilarious encounter

Love at first sight is what happened to Rahul when he saw Anjali for the first time in Chandani Chowk. Their mazaaki encounter made us all chuckle. The scene had all the hilarious elements, right from Anjali mistaking Rahul for being Ashfaq miyaa, to all the shayaris, to the tongue twister “Chandu ke chacha ne chandu ke chachi ko chandani raat mei chandani chowk mei chandi ke chamche se chatni chataee” and the dialogue “bade mazakiya ho” which we all enjoyed. Watch now to get on the joy ride with Rahul and Anjali.

It's Bebo's Day!!!

Kareena Kapoor turning 32 today had an amazing journey in Dharma Productions, her first movie was Kabhi Khushu Kabhie Gham and her character of Poo added a zing to the movie! Poo is difficult to forget and it was a boost to her career.

Her next movie was with her real life lover Saif Ali Khan called 'Kurbaan'! A sensitive movie based on terrorism, Kareena portrayed the character of Avantika in a brilliant way. Next in line is the Valentine movie - 'Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu' Riana a bindaas Indian girl staying in Las Vegas was a pleasure to watch!

We hope her career keeps growing in the film industry and her relation with Dharma Productions will just become stronger with the passing years :)

It's all about GIPPI

Gippi is a upcoming movie of Dharma Productions,  Karan Johar in collaboration with Sajid Nadiawala... This movie is a sure to watch out for.

The two reasons that makes this movie stand out than rest of the Dharma movies is the fact that this is the first time Dharma is launching a debutant director... Okay no, not just a director but a lady director! Yes, Sonam Nair is the director of the movie who also happened to be Ayan Mukherji's Asst. Director in 'Wake Up Sid'!

Now, we are all aware of the romantic movies produced under Dharma one of them being a blockbuster hit which youth of this generation also love - Yes, we are talking about Kuch Kuch Hota Hai. Then comes other  emotional genre movie like Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, Kal Ho Naa Ho, Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna and so on... But 'Gippi' is gonna be one of a kind.

This is the first time, Dharma will be producing a only for kids movie! And the big news is Karan has already selected the lead actor - Riya Vij, 13 from Delhi and the shooting is almost coming to an end.

Hope, this change will give something new to all Dharma fans! Fingers crossed and keep in touch with the movie by visiting -> http://www.facebook.com/GippiTheFilm Thank you :)

No sequel to K3G!

Ten years after the release of one of the most-loved movie, “Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham” Director Karan Johar officially announces there won’t any sequel 2 this blockbuster.

This could be heartbreak for thousands of fans who were eagerly waiting for it. Especially to see the duo of Kareena Kapoor and Hrithik Roshan after so many years again!  This film managed to create a magic on-screen and one of the reason was because it got 6 big superstars together – Amitabh Bachcha, Jaya Bachchan, Shahrukh Khan, Kajol, Hrithik Roshan and Kareena Kapoor.

Karan Johar rightly calls K3G "the pillar film of Dharma" and says, "It was my father Yash Johar's most favourite film. He liked K3G even more than my first film Kuch Kuch Hota Hai. That alone makes K3G more special to me."

“Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham” is rated to be the best Family flick till date not only in India but also overseas. However, Karan Johar considers it a unique movie that cannot be repeated. He concluded by saying, “I don’t think I can write a screenplay to justify the magnetism of these actors. Recreating the kind of history this film has enjoyed may not be possible. I’m scared that I may not be able to strike the same emotional chord once again. Since I don’t wish to bring even the slightest blemish to K3G a sequel is ruled out.”

Movies... stories and characters... Remain Forever!!

Bablu Chaudhary / Manu Dada in Duplicate, Rahul in Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Rahul in Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, Aman in Kal Ho Naa Ho, Dev in Kabhhi Alvida Naa Kehna  and Rizvan Khan in My Name is Khan. All these names have been gotten associated with Shahrukh Khan for over a decade.
The characters played by Shahrukh Khan for Dharma productions have been topping the lists of favorite characters for years now. Kuch Kuch Hota Hai completed 13 years of its release on the 16th of October 2011 and even now Rahul’s character from the movie is loved by the world and every college boy wants to look like Rahul in real life. Every son wants to be like Rahul in Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham and every father felt the pain like Rizvan Khan from My Name is Khan.
Time will keep passing by but these movies, stories and characters remain in the hearts of millions and will continue to remain forever and ever! :)

Father & Son bonding in Dharma Production movies...

Morning freshness, the freshness of a new relationship, the freshness of the first rain, etc. are special and magical but the freshness of a father and son relationship is the most soothing and non tangible feeling in the world.
Many movies at Dharma Productions have portrayed the daddy and son bonding. From Yash Raichand-Rahul and Rohan Raichand (Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham), Sexy Sam & Rishi (Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna), Dev & Arjun (Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna), Rizwan & Sameer (My Name is Khan), etc.  If you notice, all the mentioned father and son bonding have been extremely strong and inspiring.
It is a relationship that is not taught into ones head but which comes upon naturally. At times it is difficult to act out some really strong and emotional scenes. But the ones in these movies have been loved and applauded all over the world for connecting with the fathers and in some or the other way. As some say… “From the father…it goes to the son!!” :)
Watch the famous father and son scene from Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham:

Families & Traditions at Dharma

Families and traditions are the building blocks to all the individuals. We grow and learn most of our habits and ethics from our family. These are the values that define a person.
Even at Dharma, family traditions are given utmost importance and it is evident from the movies, where all have been blockbusters.
From ‘Kuch Kuch Hota Hai’ to ‘Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham’ or ‘Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna’ to ‘My Name is Khan'. All these movies are in some or the other way family oriented. No matter how modern the society becomes or how liberal the youth gets, every individual or a group of individuals would never disagree to the fact that there is no better time than the time spent with family.
Be it the Raichand family or Rohit and Naina’s family or Rahul and Anjali’s family (Kuch Kuch Hota Hai), the main factor of motivation in all the themes were to be together and to remain as a family!! :)

Some of Kajol's funny moments while shooting for KKHH and K3G

Kajol is one of the finest actresses of Indian cinema. She comes out with some brilliant on screen performances but there are some really cute and funny moments that are associated with her brilliant performances.
Her fighting scenes with Rahul in ‘Kuch Kuch Hota Hai’ to her ‘bade mazakiyaan ho’ dialogue from ‘Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham’, are one of the favorites for her fans.
Both the movies ‘Kuch Kuch Hota Hai’ and ‘Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham’ have Kajol displaying one of her best on screen performances. During the shoot of these movies she had some blooper moments which are still recollected by her and the film unit as some funny moments during the shoot.
In ‘Kuch Kuch Hota Hai’, while shooting for ‘Yeh ladka’ where they had to ride a cycle in one of the scenes, Kajol had a bad fall while riding a cycle for the song sequence. Later this became a topic of laughter for the entire team.
In ‘Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham’, Kajol had a bad fall while shooting for the scene where her son in the movie performed on the stage and she had to run towards the stage to hug him.
From both the stories it is evident that this actress adds charm and fun to the movies on screen and off screen!! :)

Hrithik Roshan hits Punit Malhotra for a six

For all those who swear by Dharma movies, here is a trivia that will definitely catch your attention. The scene where Hrithik Roshan hits a six to take his team to victory in Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham is pretty much set in your mind. The batsman you know too well, but take a close look at the bowler, do you know who he is?
Assistant director of Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham and the director of the hit romantic-comedy, I Hate Luv Storys – Punit Malhotra – is the one who comes charging in to try and bowl out Hrithik in one of the more emotional moments in the movie.

K3G shall always be remembered as a movie that is made up of a number of touching and poignant scenes that sees the movie develop an emotional bond with the audience.
In fact, Dharma movies have always stood by this theory and almost all of their movies have a gamut of emotions running as the underlying theme – be it ‘Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham’ or ‘Kal Ho Na Ho’ or ‘I Hate Luv Storys’ itself. And Punit Malhotra has played an important role in Dharma movies right since the K3G days, both as an assistant director and as the actor who bowled the final delivery to Hrithik Roshan in ‘Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham’ to being the director of ‘I Hate Luv Storys’…

Mothers are your Best Friends

Mothers are there with us in our worst and the best times. They would cry with us and for us… they stand by us in our tough times and motivate us to have the best in life. A mother does everything that a friend must ideally do. They compliment us even on our bad hair day and fight for us even against our weakest contenders.

Rahul and Maa portray friendship in the best possible way. Best friends don’t have to speak it out for conveying a message; they feel the happiness and the pain even in each other’s absence.  Distance and time gap puts no difference to the magnitude of this friendship. Rahul jab bhi Maa ke paas aata hai, Maa ko uska ehsaas apne aap ho jaata hai!!  ‘Maa ke haathon se bane laddoo se lekar maa ka aashirwaad’, are filled with love, affection and friendship!! My mother is my best friend… 
