5 Reasons why summers are the best season of the year

Believe it or not, summer is the best season there is to be outdoors and live life fully. After chilling winters, summers come as a blessing adorned with the hope of living our wishes, contently.

Planning for summer is always fun as there is so much to get your hands on and well, the season lasts for just 3 short months. It is a season to frolic and Dharma movies bring you some of the best ways to enjoy it.

Let’s pack our bags with few Dharma ideas:

1. The season of colors is just around the corner and so is your heart dancing to enjoy the day with your loved ones.

2. Summer brings along with it brightness, awesomeness and liveliness. You can’t wait to flaunt your fashion sense with the summer shopping you just finished.

3. Outdoor sport activities are best complemented with summer. Go hiking in the mornings and swimming in the evenings. The weather and the water is just the right temperature.

4. Night camping and mountain trekking was never so much fun. Grab a pair of sneakers and step out into the world of adventure, only in summer.

5. The best part about summer is – it’s holiday time! Schools and colleges rest. Kids are hyperactive. Plan the family holiday you've been waiting for.

And if you are too lazy to step out, stir yourself a fruit smoothie and watch a movie. A family drama such as K3G or a love-hit like KKHH can be a super treat.

Dharma Directors

Dharma Productions has been the breeding ground for many successful directors. Many young and new directors have worked with Dharma Productions and delivered blockbusters that we crave to watch the minute we can.

These directors are a boiling pot of the age-old traditions of film-producing plus the demand of the new generation. They are faces of freshness that is now molding films to match 21st century audience tastes. There has been tremendous change in the way Indian cinema is perceived and that’s because, well, our new age directors are game for challenges.

The result is well received; viewers today have much appreciated the new face of cinema and yes, rest is history. Remarkable tales with staggering performances from actors has just altered the course for Indian cinema. Never-before-heard-or-seen stories played with astonishing brilliance is a cup of tea for Indian stars and this much is now world-wide known and accepted. But the brains that go behind the story, screening, direction, production, casting, etc. is what has made all the difference.

With films like ‘Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhaniya’ – Shashank Khaitan, ‘Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani’ – Ayan Mukherjee, and 'Hasee Toh Phasee' - Vinil Mathew, we know that Indian cinema is transforming for good with a whip of modernity and genuinity.

Viewers, young and old, have acknowledged this change and much of the credit goes to Dharma productions for launching such talented budding directors. We wish them luck in their future endeavors.

#RomanticDialogues with Dharma

Dharma has been synonymous with the feeling of love for decades now. Movies like ‘Kuch Kuch Hota Hai’ and ‘Kal Ho Naa Ho’ have become cult classics of the romantic genre. A large part of that success can be attributed to the mesmerizing dialogues that have been etched in the minds of the people.

It’s the characters that have made the dialogues memorable and when it comes to romance, how can one forget Rahul (Shah Rukh Khan). Rahul’s earnestness when he says “Kuch kuch hota hai Anjali, tum nahi samjhogi” Brought tears to the eyes of the young and the old. In ‘Kal Ho Na Ho’ Rohit’s (Saif Ali Khan) heartfelt way of describing love “Pyar ka pehla kadam dosti hai, aur aakhri bhi… bas beech ke kadam reh gaye hain” is also not far off.

While the superstars SRK, Saif, Rani and Preity have had their fair share of glory. The budding stars of B-Town are not far behind. While playing Meeta, Parineeti Chopra’s dialogue “Tum oxygen aur main hydrogen… hamari chemistry ekdum pani ki tarah hai” in ‘Hasee to Phasee’ brought a smile to the faces and changed the outlook towards the term chemistry forever.

From the outright passionate to the twisted funny, romantic dialogues of Dharma movies continue to make people fall in love. While the actors have beautifully enacted these dialogues on screen, the wonderful teams of writers have weaved their magic in the form of words time and again and deserve the highest of credit.

So, join in the fun as we bring the curtains down on the month of love and let us know your favourite romantic dialogues in the comment section below.

Coz for Love… One day is Simply Not Enough

We think we all know about ‘Love’, the all consuming feeling that enthralls you. We carry it around thinking about it time and time again and yet we face a hollowness of sorts. Why so? We have ended up putting so many restrictions that we now have a nominated day of love i.e 14th of February. But, is this the right way to go?

The instances area plenty, we only need to open our eyes and see the magic unfolding in front of us. The mother’s warmth when she holds her child, a tight hug from a long lost friend, the smitten lovers holding hands, you name it and it’s there. It is this tingling sensation that we need to hold on to and celebrate.

Movies like ‘Kuch Kuch Hota Hai’ have set a benchmark in terms of capturing the imagination of the young and old. But, it is the underlying message of love and eternal bliss that we often miss out on.  It is precisely what the world needs and celebration of love is the remedy.

But, it’s not all about roses and rainbows. Even science has its take on the feeling of love. The important point being love induces certain happy hormones that keep you in a state of great mental and physical health. All the more reason, to spread the message across on a daily basis.

While there can be a laundry list of reasons that can be given to indulge in this sensation, King Khan sums it up brilliantly in one of his dialogues in Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, “Hum ek baar jeete hai. Ek baar marte hai. Aur pyar bhi ek hi baar hota hai.” So, do away with the constraints because for love, one day is simply not enough.

5 Reasons why ‘Pooh’ is the Ultimate Style Icon

Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham was a runaway hit with theatre halls flooded with die-hard fans, in India and the rest of the world. It’s true; no other family drama has been as successful as this one. The glamorous Raichand family has set the bar very high for movies in the league. And even today, 14 years later, the deeply sentimental drama continues to entertain hearts.

Many reasons why this is still a people pleaser. The movie is a stand-alone entertainer with not a moment out of place. The mega-star cast, the costumes, the setting, the London-tadka, the melodious songs, the lavish sets, everything was just so…yum! But what really stood out was the introduction of Kareena Kapoor Khan as ‘Pooh’, the Fashion Diva for generations to come.

So, here are 5 reasons why Pooh is the ultimate style icon.

1. She is the ‘Queen’, no matter where, no matter what.

2. Follows her dreams relentlessly.

3. Does not care about what the world thinks.

4. Self-regard is high up there.

5. And, the world, just totally absolutely, revolves around her.

Well, that’s Pooh who charms everyone around and that is why, even today, we find a ‘Pooh’ in every young girl we come across.

My Name Is Khan celebrates 5th Anniversary

Movies always manage to stir emotions in us. Almost all of them do. But only very few leave behind ever-lasting mark in our hearts. They entertain us, help kill boredom, satiate our love of Bollywood movies, but very few transform us, change our outlook toward life and love, and we grow, psychologically and emotionally. Dharma Productions’ My Name Is Khan is one such movie.

My Name Is Khan is centered on the lives of the two main characters Rizwan Khan (Shah Rukh Khan) and Mandira (Kajol). The film, for most part, is set in San Francisco where Mandira works as a hairdresser and Rizwan stays and works with his brother Zakir Khan (Jimmy Shergill). They fall in love and are happily married. Soon after, the 26/11 terrorist attacks shake the country and their lives are torn apart. The journey, thereafter, is about Rizwan’s fight to prove the prejudiced mindsets – Muslims are terrorists – wrong and winning back the love of his love.

On its 5th anniversary, we recount the special heart-touching memories from the movie and what they taught us.

In the movie, Rizwan Khan (Shah Rukh Khan) suffers from Asperger’s Syndrome, a mild condition of autism. This part is so well acted leaving behind a message that children and adults who suffer from this disorder are equally competent, emotionally and psychologically, as those who don’t.

That love is unconditional and knows no bounds was never better portrayed. Although, Rizwan is autistic, but his innocent and affectionate manners have Mandira fall in love with him. The chocolate-sweet romance between the couple is just so adorable.

Age old wisdom is passed from Rizwan’s mother to Rizwan in his childhood - “There are only 2 types of people in this world – Those who do good things and those who do bad things”. Only if all of us understood the depth and relevance of this message, we would all be one and under the same sun; not divided by religion and community barriers.

The blockbuster movie was not only a runaway hit in India, but received an equally greater international appreciation too. On its 5th anniversary, watch this absolutely fantastic movie and tell us about your favorite scenes, dialogues, etc.

3 Years of Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu

Once in a while, there comes a light-hearted comedy that makes you feel mushy as well as leaves you little more matured. Produced by Karan Johar, Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu is one such movie. The plot is simple yet one that induces thought.

Rahul Kapoor (Imran Khan) and Riana Braganza (Kareena Kapoor) are the main leads in the movie. Rahul leads an easy life with nothing but to walk down the road paved for him by his domineering parents. Riana is a hairdresser. Both living in Las Vegas meet at a psychologist’s office and the following turn of events links their fates together.

On its third anniversary, we bring you 5 reasons why you must watch the romantic comedy this love season.

1. Characters grow on you

The Imran Khan and Kareena Kapoor starrer movie is ripe and pleasant due to its characters that grow on the audience. They do not just convince you of their parts but make you believe as if they were born out of your minds.

2. Mistakes are opportunities in disguise

Yes, sit back and reflect. We are sure you would recount mistakes that left you more than just the learning. Rahul and Riana meet and certain events lead Riana to believe that Rahul is stalking her. This, of course, is a mistake and the soon she realizes this; she is on her way to amendments. Gradually, she becomes friends with Rahul and has someone to look forward to, in times of need.

3. Music is the essence of the movie

A movie is what its music makes it, and of course, the dialogues and acting too. But what’s a movie if it doesn’t have few numbers to tap away to! ‘Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu’ is such a package. The title track - Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu, Gubbare, Aunty Ji and Aahatein are few of the most beautiful songs that’ll make you groove to the music.

4. Star-studded cast make it worth the watch

Imran Khan and Kareena Kapoor along with Ratna Pathak Shah and Boman Irani make it a pleasant treat for watchers. We can rest imagine the quirky- comedy fun ride it’s going to be.

5. All’s well that ends well

As movie buffs, we just love watching happy endings and this movie does not disappoint its audience. Rahul and Riana both realize that they had met for a reason and that was – Living your dreams, no matter how. They remain good friends despite all odds and that, my friend, is what we call - All’s well that ends well!

Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu is a movie for every mood and that’s not all. It’ll entertain you, make you sad, and yet leave you asking for more. If you haven’t watched the movie yet, it is the perfect way to feed your Friday frenzy or kill the Sunday boredom. We hope you enjoy it.

Few tips to celebrate Love!

Valentine’s Day is just around the corner and we are sure you are brewing a pot of the perfect plans for your sweetheart. The perfect day, the perfect place, the perfect say, the perfect way! Everything has to be just as they’d have dreamed of, isn’t it? Perhaps, better!

Time and again, Dharma movies have been setting standards high when it comes to love. No girl or guy is now to accept your proposal unless it has a touch of the magic Dharma romance creates. Don’t we wish in the heart of our hearts to be proposed by someone with exactly the same words?

So as it’s the love season, we look back at some of the memorable love tips to charm your better half.

Here are 5 of the most romantic love tips from the Dharma kitty:

1. Pure love comes from the heart without a reason, stays every season.

Isn't that what love is all about, being unconditional? Remember Rizwan’s cute innocent love for Mandira in ‘My Name Is Khan’!!

2. Sometimes you need to walk an extra mile for your love.

No gains, without pains, and we are talking about LOVE. In ‘Gori Tere Pyaar Mein’, Sriram goes all the way to Jhumli to build a bridge to win ‘Dia’s’ heart.

3. 6 Din Ladki In

One thing rules all – Friendship. And Aman proves his friendship is no less. He leaves no stone unturned in bringing Naina and Rohit together, in just 6 days.

4. Opposites attract to make a perfect love-story.

You don’t need similarities to live with someone, you need love. And that’s what Jay and Simran’s love-story was all about.

5. Why chase your dreams alone when you can have your loved one beside you.

It doesn’t matter the journey, what matters is the partner! Bunny couldn’t have found anyone better than Naina to follow his dreams.

Hope you loved reliving those moments again. What are your favorite Dharma love-tips? Share them in the comments below.

Happy Birthday Abhishek Bachchan !

The dashing star of Bollywood celebrates his 39th birthday with his family. For him, birthdays are no reason to not work. He loves celebrating his birthdays by ‘working’ and following his daily schedule of acting and film-making. Yes, you heard it right!

Junior Bachchan is best known as an actor, but very few of his fans know that he was a co-producer and a playback singer.

The actor, who prefers living a very low profile life, has worked in the choicest of films and all his roles have been well received by the audience. His role as ‘Rishi’ in ‘Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna’ was much applauded and won him a Filmfare award. However, his character ‘Sameer’ in Dostana has been an all-time favorite which won him the envious IIFA under the Best Comedian category.

With 48 awards won and a stunning 97 nominations, it is quite clear why this tall handsome is the heart-throb of many. On his special day, Dharma Productions wishes him a delightful birthday.

And yet more awards for Dharma!

The last week of January came as a bag full of happiness for Dharma Productions. In the face of Stardust and Bollywood’s coveted Filmfare Awards 2015, was yet another reason to celebrate.

With nominations in several categories like music, playback and lead roles, the team of 2 States were in a celebratory mood already. Their hard-work was duly acknowledged, as they bagged yet more awards. The treasured Black Lady of Filmfare came home to Dharma with awards in 2 categories - Best Director Debut (Male) - Abhishek Varman & Best Music Director - Shankar Ehsaan Loy.

While there were some amazing movies in the year gone by, this movie hit a rather sweet chord with the audience. Adapted from Chetan Bhagat's novel by the same name, 2 States tackled a subject of much curiosity - a love story between a North Indian boy and a South Indian girl.

With Arjun Kapoor and Alia Bhatt playing the lead roles, the movie grossed over 100 crores at the box office. And we are pleased that all this toil hasn't gone unnoticed with the jury at several award functions.

We congratulate the winners and wish them many more awards in the future.
