Dharma Production to bring back the Raichand saga

It has been ten years since the Dharma Productions’ smash hit entertainer Kabhie Khushi Kabhie Gham released and the good news still keeps rolling in. There has been speculation for quite a while now that a sequel to the movie would be a great idea, and would definitely be the next commercial smash hit for Dharma.

Admitting to the fact that K3G 2 is indeed in the pipeline, Karan said, “It’s a workable idea. I am no longer averse to it. It would be a bold step if I make it.”

It looks like the sequel is indeed a very lucrative idea, especially since all six cast members are equally excited with the prospect of acting in the movie. In fact, it was suggested by one of the cast members to Karan Johar in the first place.

Talking about the sequel, Big B even revealed on his blog, “It would be a story on the growth of the brothers and the problems that arise because of their independent understanding and working of the business empire of the father, a split within them and so on...” . We’re keeping our fingers crossed for now and hoping that we’ll get to know more about this very soon.

New Zealand – India agreement aids Bollywood

New Zealand is becoming quite well-known amongst Indians as one of the hottest destinations to travel to abroad. Its scenic and breathtaking beauty has gained wide appreciation thanks to the number of Bollywood movies being shot there recently. It’s because of this reason that an agreement has been signed between India and New Zealand, which aims at encouraging more co-operation between the two nations' film industries by enhancing screen co-investment, joint creative input and film crew interaction.

Tourism New Zealand research found 30,000 visitors arrived in this country from India in the year to May 2011, up 13% on the previous year. DQ chief executive Tony Everitt said the Bollywood film industry had a great deal of influence on the Indian tourism market, not just on the continent itself, but on wealthy Indians living around the world.

Dharma Productions’ has definitely been a pioneer in shooting at exotic locations all over the world, be it Miami for Dostana, New York for Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna or I Hate Luv Storys in New Zealand.  Although Switzerland was the habitual destination since decades for directors, it’s now out of fashion and New Zealand is all the rage. This agreement is definitely going to give Bollywood an even bigger boost.

Punit Malhotra tops list of promising debut directors

One of India’s most reputed media organizations recently came out with a list of the most promising debutant directors to look out for in the upcoming months. While the list features directors like Abhinav Kashyap (Dabangg), Abhishek Sharma (Tere Bin Laden), Kiran Rao (Dhobi Ghat), and Vikramaditya Motwane (Udaan), guess who topped this pretty prestigious list of names? The young and dashing director of one of the runaway hits of last year, Punit Malhotra himself!

I Hate Luv Storys was a magnum opus and achieved a whopping 60 Crores plus in the box office, securing it as one of the most successful movies released last year. It recently completed its one year anniversary and that too was celebrated in style by its fans. A number of PR articles were released in some of the top most publications on the IHLS anniversary celebrations which took place as well.

This young, energetic and extremely talented director will definitely be on our radar to watch out for. Don’t miss him either!

Hrithik to be the new ‘Angry Young Man’

When you hear the word ‘Agneepath’, all that comes to your mind is the angry young man Amitabh Bachchan, Mandwa village and Big B’s famous dialogue “Vijay Dinanath Chauhan”. However, in 2012, Bollywood lovers will get to see a brand new Vijay Dinanath Chauhan. The much talked about and admired character will be played by Hrithik Roshan in a remake to be produced by Karan Johar.

The shooting for the movie is complete and is all set to release on January 13th 2012. Hrithik, who recently returned from Diu after completing a month long shooting, has put in huge amounts of hard work in the film. It’s well known that Hrithik and Priyanka Chopra, who will star together onscreen for the second time after Krissh, were injured on the sets. There will be a lot of expectations from the remake of the 90’s super hit flick but Hrithik, however, says that he liked the script and so he did it. ‘Agneepath’ is just another film for him and he is not taking it as a big remake.

The film will also cast Sanjay Dutt as the main villainous character of Kaancha Cheena; however, the character played by Mithun Chakraborty in the previous Agneepath is no more there in the remake.

Karan Goes Candid

Karan Johar, who was out of Mumbai for a while to finish his script, is back in town again. He’ll start directing the movie ‘Student of The Year’ from August 16th onwards. On being asked if he was nervous about working with the newcomers, he said he was much more excited than nervous and that all the three newcomers, Siddharth, Varun and Aliya are enormously talented.

On being asked about his opinions on the abusive compliments made by Ram Gopal Verma for Amitabh Bachchan, he cited that it was blasphemous to do so, and that Amitabh Bachchan should be praised with utmost dignity.

Commenting on the fact that Satya by Ram Gopal Verma is among his top five movies of all times, Karan Johar says that Ram Gopal Verma has become a victim of his own image and that his recent movies and his comments on others irk him.
