Nazdeekiyaan Re-creates Age Old Magic

Dharma Productions has always been known to produce timeless classics. Their music has always captivated the hearts of their audience and it still continues to do so. The love song ‘Nazdeekiyaan’ from ‘Shaandaar’ is no different. It will take you on a journey of love, vintage style.

The song gives you a chance to dream and it makes reality seem like a fairytale, especially when you are with your loved one. The chemistry between Shahid Kapoor and Alia Bhatt in the song is absolutely mesmerizing and to add to the chemistry, the black and white filter and the slow waltz makes this song an absolute stunner.

The beautiful composition by Amit Trivedi will take you into Bollywood’s melodious past where song and dance make every moment a fairy tale. It’s time to listen to the melodious track ‘Nazdeekiyaan’ and cherish that endless love with your loved one.

Happy Mother’s Day

It won’t be too over the top to say, “Mother is love, mother is life”. The person that has seen your first cry and smiled, held your finger to help take your first steps is the beloved mother. There are so many memories that one can recollect, so many reasons to be grateful about. On this auspicious day, Dharma looks back at the on-screen mothers that have given Indian cinema some of its epic silver screen moments.

When we talk about mothers in Dharma movies, the first name that comes to mind is Nandini Raichand played by Jaya Bachchan. Nandini Raichand’s love for her elder son Rahul is the stuff of legends. Who can forget the epic scene where she senses Rahul’s arrival and stands at the doorstep to welcome him?

Jaya Bachchan added the much needed depth to the character and it was loved by audiences across the world.

If Nandini Raichand was the matriarch, then Sameer’s mom in ‘Dostana’ played by Kirron Kher had people in splits with her humorous yet cool depiction of a Punjabi mom. The way she sacrifices her dreams for Sameer’s happiness is a quality that is to be found in every mother, and women could relate to it.

The word mother and care go hand in hand, and who knows it better than Aman’s mother in ‘Kal Ho Naa Ho’ who maintains a smile on her face even when she knows her son is terminally ill. With that she gave her son the much needed strength to face the tough situation he was in.

A mother is the lady for all occasions in a man’s life and when the going gets tough, the mother is the one who stands firmly behind her children. Mrs. Khanna, Rahul’s mother in ‘Kuch Kuch Hota Hai’ provided the much needed support to Rahul after he suffered Tina’s loss. Not just that, she also took care of little Anjali and gave her the motherly love which she so dearly needed.

Each aspect of mothers is unique and when it comes to Indian moms, melodrama can’t be far away. Ask Krish Malhotra who had a tough time getting his mother to accept Ananya as her daughter-in-law.

Needless to say, every mother in the world is special and one should cherish that fact. We at Dharma salute them and wish each one of them a very Happy Mother’s Day.

Waiting for February?? Phew! The month of love has finally arrived and the wait is over. The roads, malls, colleges, workplace and theatres have got the flavor of red and hearts all over. Love and Dharma productions are inseparable, isn’t it? Be it Rahul from KKHH, Aman from Kal Ho Naa Ho, or Rohan of K3G, Dharma Production leaves no stone unturned to fantasize your perfect soul mate. Whether you are single or committed, all these romantic releases are enough to fill your heart with love. If you are single, beware of the Romeos around you. They might woo you with tricks they picked up from the romantic actors or with the dialogues of the super romantic movies of Dharma. And singles can make a note, love is not about your soul mates, it’s also about your family. We hope you remember the famous tagline, K3G – love your family. Dharma Production has not only targeted the lovey-dovey couples but also has left a mark on students and workaholics with releases like, ‘Student of the Year’ and ‘Ye Jawaani Hai Deewani’.

10 reasons why you should celebrate the month of love with your love and Dharma films:

1. Because you are a die-hard romantic.

2. To shower the Dharma magic of romance.

3. It is the 'ishq wala love' season.

4. 2 states is a reflection of your love story.

5. To indirectly propose to your girl by taking her for a Romantic Dharma Movie.

6. Love and Dharma Productions are 2 sides of a same coin.

7. You start fantasizing about your soul mate whenever you see a Dharma Movie.

8. The lyrics of the songs in Dharma Movies, are not just the lyrics, they are your emotions.

9. Because life is not always gham, add some khushi to it.

10. Happy endings don’t exist only in dreams, but in Dharma films too.

Family comes first

You don't choose your family. They are God's gift to you, as you are to them. The love of family and the admiration of friends are much more important than wealth and privilege. A perfect example of this is the film ‘Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham’ directed by Karan Johar and produced by his father Yash Johar. The movie was made to evoke nostalgia among those who have left their families to start a life elsewhere.

The film revolves around the affluent Raichand family. A family that faces trials and tribulations, but at the end of the day still have the heart to forgive each other’s mistakes, no matter how grave the problem is. Amitabh Bachchan plays the role of Yash Raichand who is a prosperous businessman in New Delhi. He is portrayed as fiercely dominating, and controls the lives of his wife and his 2 sons. However amidst his dominating nature his wife Nandi Raichand played by Jaya Bachchan and his 2 sons ignore this controlling side of his, and love him unconditionally for the person that he is.

Yash Raichand has 2 sons Rahul and Rohan, the earlier is elder and the latter is younger. Rahul falls in love with a Punjabi girl belonging to a lower socio-economic background than the Raichand family. Yash is outraged by Rahul’s decision to marry someone from a lower background. Being the adopted son of the family, Yash disowns Rahul and asks him to leave the house after marrying Anjali Sharma (Kajol). Rohan the youngest brother and son of the Raichand family takes it upon himself to bring his brother back home, and solve their disputes and differences together as a family.

This film teaches you the importance of family, and how important it is to value your parents and siblings. The one thing that people should always remember is that no matter how bad the situation or how serious the problem is, your family will always be by your side. After all the saying goes, ‘Family will always stick with you through thick or thin.’

Bridging the gap in love

Love can motivate people to cross unimaginable boundaries and break barriers to reach their loved ones. One such example of exemplary love can be seen in ‘Gori Tere Pyaar Mein’.

In the film, we see Sriram (Imran Khan) narrating his story to his fiance, about the time he fell in love with Dia Sharma (Kareena Kapoor). Dia is a social worker and hence always busy running about, helping children and the people in her locality. On the other hand, Sriram is the shallowest chap on earth who doesn't value relationships, family, friends or his country. But after he meets Dia, his outlook on life begins to slowly change. He finds himself doing things he wouldn’t have done on a normal day.

Initially we see him as a materialistic guy, who buys a plot of land for his dad, which Dia had plans of building an orphanage on. He does this only to win over his dad, so he would be gifted an Audi in return. Dia soon breaks up with him after a relationship of more than one year. At Sriram’s wedding his soon to be fiancĂ©, Vasudha, makes him realise that he still loves Dia and that he won’t be able to handle their wedding. Sriram runs away from his wedding and goes to Dia’s house. There he finds out that Dia is living in a village in Gujarat, Jhumli.

Sriram reaches the village and promises Dia that he won’t leave the village until Dia comes back with him. Dia still angry with Sriram tells him, that if he could help build a bridge in the village she may consider coming back. After a few hurdles, and getting beaten up by the village-head’s men, he gets the task completed. Dia gets to know all about this and forgives Sriram for his earlier misdeeds. They finally reunite on the newly built bridge and share a tender moment together.

We come across times in life, when compromise is necessary to make a relationship work. ‘Gori Tere Pyaar Mein’ paints a clear picture of how far people are willing to go for love. And in the end it’s all worthwhile, because getting to spend time with that special someone is reward in itself. The next time you find yourself in a situation where compromise is necessary to make things work in your love life, stop and take a look at Sriram & Dia and how they ultimately achieved their fairytale ending.

Do girls choose to make someone perfect? Or do they choose the perfect guy?

We’ve all seen and loved ‘Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania’. We’ve laughed, cried and experienced every emotion with Kavya, Humpty and Angad. The movie did bring up one topic though; do girls look for perfect relationships or the perfect man? Or is it both? Here’s a reminder about the characters from the movie, hopefully after this list, you’ll be able to decide –

1) Humpty is from Delhi and is usually roaming around with his best buddies and occasionally also decides to do his duty and take care of his dad’s bookstore. Angad, is a qualified doctor from America.

2) Humpty has never been a great student but has found creative ways to pass his exams, like bribing the teachers, Angad on the other hand always seems serious about his career.

3) Humpty can’t be bothered to work out, while Angad is more conscious about his fitness.

4) Angad is an incredible cook, while Humpty would probably try and slice through an onion with the blunt side of a knife.

5) Angad seems calm and collected at all times and never gets angry, while Humpty is a hot blooded male who will kill to keep his loved ones safe.

6) Angad is clean and healthy, never drinks or smokes as he wants to stay that way. Humpty on the other hand always tries to live life to the fullest.

7) Angad is always sharp, calculating every move, while Humpty is emotional and naĂŻve at most times.

So it brings us back to the question, what are girls looking for?

Relationships are made incredible when two completely imperfect people look at each other and fill in the gaps to make their love perfect. It’s not too hard to choose, we all love that person who brings a spark into our lives, who knows what he/she is capable of and who we believe we can fall in love with. In the movie Humpty is that man.

Alia Bhatt’s Samjhawan Unplugged - Out Now!

Love is when she sings a love song. Here’s our very own cute and bubbly, Alia Bhatt aka Kavya Pratap Singh expressing her love and emotions in the unplugged version of the romantic song ‘Samjhawan’. ‘Samjhawan Unplugged’ is a melodious rendition of Arijit Singh and Shreya Ghoshal's ‘Samjhawan’ from Alia and Varun Dhawan's forthcoming movie Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania. The song starts on slow but strong notes. The track plays well not just with Alia’s voice but also with the minimalist music arrangement in the song. The soulful track in Alia’s melodious voice definitely brings out the best of the song. The lyrics and Alia’s voice are a soulful romantic blend that preaches love in a delightful manner.
Talking about the song trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted, “Listen to Alia Bhatt's soulful rendition of 'Samjhawan' from #HumptySharmaKiDulhania...”

So do you luv your Luv Story?

It’s funny how one can fall in love with the most unexpected person in the most unexpected way. When someone loves you, they don't have to say it; you can tell by the way they treat you. One should never look for love but let love find him or her.
It was a crazy sight when Jay, who hated Luv stories, and a diehard romantic like Simran fell in love with each other.

Here are top 7 reasons why boys find it hard to survive in a relationship!
  1. It gets intense when guys have to choose between sports shoes and casuals.
  2. Girlfriends get dramatic about almost everything, even the color of the guy’s tie.
  3. It takes an effort to remember dates: Birthdays, anniversaries, milestones etc.
  4. No time for friends.
  5. Life is surrounded by red roses & heart shaped balloons. eww…eww…
  6. Require to take permission for literally everything. “Baby can I go over to my friend’s house to watch a game of football?”
  7. You compulsorily have to share your passwords with your girlfriend. Why God...why??

Even though boyfriends go through a lot of adjustments, girls too have their equal share. What is most important in any relationship is to be happy with the person we are with.

Here’s celebrating the 4th Anniversary of Jay and Simran’s cute and funny story - ‘I Hate Luv Storys’ :)

A day to celebrate the rock solid man in our lives!

A father, a word, a person, a thought, a belief, a support system for life & the reason for being alive! We may not speak much to our father, we may be scared to share things with him because of the disciplined role that he plays in our lives… But, he is our hero, our role model. We learn how to be strong, how to face the difficulties in our lives & how to come out of them victorious!

Father – a man who strives hard to give us a better life in terms of living, education, qualities that make us a better person… & in return, expects nothing but love & respect, not just for him but for everyone who helps us grow as an individual! He is our best teacher, a perfect guide, a true friend & a thoughtful philosopher.

The role of a father played by the superstars in any Dharma movie have left us with an impact forever! Be it Rahul from Kuch Kuch Hota Hai or Yash Raichand from Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, these characters have thought how a father can be your best friend & can also be stern so that we learn & grow better!

On this special day, be sure to give your father an extra big hug and tell him how much you love him :)
