Passion never fails

“Kisi aur se pyar karne se pehle, khud se pyar karna seekho... Long term mein yahi kaam aayega” This quote from ‘Gori Tere Pyaar Mein’ holds deep meaning and there’s a lot we can learn from this. Only by loving ourselves and fulfilling our own passions can we be ready to share our happiness with others. Following your dreams and doing something you are truly passionate about can only lead you to a bright future.

A great example of following your dreams and living out your passion is Bunny in ‘Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani’. He strongly believed in doing a job that he was passionate about rather than settling for a monotonous office job. His dream was to wander and travel the world, and he did just that when he set off to become a videographer for a travel show. The best part about Bunny was that throughout the film we see how he is deeply in touch with his inner self. He knows what he wants and always follows his heart to achieve what’s best for him.

In ‘Wake Up Sid’, we see Aisha Banerjee an aspiring writer determined to live her dreams. She follows her passion, comes to the city and lands a job with Bombay Beat, a hip magazine. Also, she makes Sid realize his passion for photography and helps him become a photography intern for the magazine she works for. After he gets hired as full-time staff and receives his first pay check, he proudly meets his father and the two reconcile. By listening to Aisha’s advice and working in a field that he is passionate about, Sid transforms from a childish boy with no ambitions in life, into a respectable and independent man.

And finally, one of the finest examples of how passion never fails can be seen in ‘Gori Tere Pyaar Mein’. Kareena Kapoor Khan plays the role of ‘Dia Sharma’, a social worker who strives hard to having her dream of building an orphanage realised. Come hail or shine, Dia is adamant to stay true to her passion of helping people and does whatever it takes to fight for the people’s rights. She even sacrifices her love when she feels Sriram Venkat (Imran Khan) isn’t supportive of her towards her cause.

In a country where our parents often have their own ideology of our future career, it can be difficult to do something we are passionate about. But the truth be told, we can only truly be content if we follow our dreams and take up a career we are passionate about. After all, passion never fails.

Wake Up Sid Anniversary - Follow your Dreams’

“One day your dreams will flash before your eyes. Make sure it’s worth watching.” – Unknown

Do you have a dream, a wish or a desire? Have you ever stopped to wonder, what it would be like to live life to its fullest? People tell you to follow your dreams, but is anyone really doing it for themselves? Life interjects, bills pile up, and sometimes we have to do jobs we don’t want to do just to make it through the day. It is difficult to follow our dreams with all these obstacles lying in our path, but if we really want to see our lives change for the better it is important to break free of these barriers and do whatever it takes to follow our dreams.

Mumbai is indeed a city of dreams. People from across the country come to Mumbai with hopes to fulfill their dreams and aspirations. In ‘Wake Up Sid’ we see Aisha Banerjee (Konkona Sen Sharma), an aspiring writer coming to the city and landing a job with Bombay Beat. She meets Sid Mehra a typical Mumbaikar by nature, who’s only interest is to live life king size and spend his dad’s money recklessly. His father tempts him with a new Porsche if Sid joins the office. But our fun-loving chap Sid can’t spend a week at office and it disgusts him to see people who come at the same time, leave at the same time and heck, they even dress the same! Professional ambitions remain immaterial to him.

After getting kicked out by his family for scoring bad grades, he takes refuge with Aisha and considering Sid’s penchant in photography she gets him a job as an intern at Bombay Beat. Out of the blue, the boy who didn’t even know how to cook was now becoming completely independent. As Sid begins working, he finds meaning in life. After he is hired as a part of the full-time staff and receives his first paycheck, he meets his father. They reconcile and Sid's father asks him to come home.

‘Wake Up Sid’ induces a very inspiring feeling in all of us, that we all have that hidden talent which only needs to be taken out and nourished. No person is an underachiever. We just need to keep a little faith in our potentials and tap into our unknown abilities. So the next time you feel down in the dumps or uninspired, watch ‘Wake Up Sid’ to awaken your senses and motivate you to follow your dreams! On its 5th year anniversary, tell us how much you loved the movie by leaving your thoughts and favorite scenes in the comments below.

In the search of love, life and passion

The most difficult phase in life has to be that of transition, that of growing up. Especially, that part of life when you have to move from a world of comfort and luxury to that moment of facing the real world and finding yourself- your love, life and passion.
Just like Sid, who knew what bored him but not what truly made him happy, that is until Sid discovered his passion for photography! Many of us wander about life in search of our identity, in search of what we really want to be. It isn’t as difficult and tedious as it sounds always, sometimes it is just about giving you some time off and exploring yourself and letting yourself be. Like Sid, you too shall find your way to be!

Wake up!!!

Live Life Sid Style!

Doing what you love can always be easy. But, not knowing what you want to do, well, that is where the problem starts from.

But, when it comes to Sid, he believes in enjoying every moment of his life even if he is not clear about the things that he wants to do, the career that he wants to pursue or the future where is he heading.
Strangely true, it is in his unknown decisions and madness that he finds peace of mind, his motive of living and in his carelessness, he starts valuing the smallest things that he has!

So, if you are true fan of Sid, go explore the unknown paths of your life! Who knows your mental peace also lies there J
